The use of remote sensing in the evaluation of geological targets has important contributions in mapping studies. Because of this, image analysis, considered as pre and post-stage field, is of fundamental importance in the geological interpretations. Lineament is a mappable feature on the Earth''s surface, linear, straight or slightly curved. This work aims to identify what kind of image has better result in the automatic extraction of geological lineaments, by visual evaluation of the results. The following digital elevation model (DEM) images were investigated: SRTM + (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission), ASTER GDEM (Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer) and TOPODATA (Brazilian Geomorphometric Database). Automatic extraction of lineament was made with the software PCI Geomatica 2016 and the generation of rosettes diagrams was made with RockWorks 2016 Software. The average population of lineaments generated using the three parameters was approximately 1500. According to the observations made in this work, the DEM more suitable for automatic lineaments extraction is the SRTM +. On a scale of efficiency for automatic lineaments extraction, SRTM + would be the best, followed by TOPODATA while ASTER GDEM 2 does not have a good effectiveness, because of its underestimation of high altitudes.
